This shows not only how far ahead it was but also how many pretenders it inspired over the years.

Keri Russ and Matthew Rhys play Russian spies who live like ordinary suburbanites in the ’80s. But what started as a simple espionage thriller turned into a nuanced and rich commentary on trust and family. This will be the most-watched program on all streaming services and networks when lists of the top programs of 2010 are made.

FX’s hit series has been an emotional rollercoaster ride in terms of quality, but you can just buckle in and enjoy the ride. The Apocalypse latest episode is not yet available but will be shortly before the 1984 premieres in September. All seven of the other episodes are available. You can start with Murder House. We had to include Bosch, a classic detective drama with a charismatic lead actor from Titus Welliver. This shows that we can still trust Bosch. It transcends the anti-hero setting to create something grounded and subtle.

This satire on superhero culture, based on the graphic novel Garth Ennis (and Darick Robertson) is one of Amazon’s most original and interesting programs. The series stars Karl Urban playing Billy Butcher, a man who wants to bring down The Seven’s collection of most famous superheroes. A dark comedy that asks the difficult question: What if superheroes could be sociopaths? It’s been renewed for the second season, which is already in its first season. The first season was a little rocky but it was ultimately satisfying.

This USA series was a brilliant success. It ran from 2007 to 2013. It tells the story of Michael Westen, played in a surprisingly good role by Jeffrey Donovan. The opening credits indicate that Westen has been burnt, meaning he is a former spy who doesn’t have an identity nor a support system. This series cleverly combines cases from each week with a larger story about who and why Michael was burned. It also has great support work by Sharon Gless, Gabrielle Anwar, and Bruce Campbell.

This British comedy stars Sharon Horgan. Horgan and Delaney play a charming couple that becomes parents after a brief affair while Delaney is on business. This is one of the most beloved comedies of the ’10s, nominated for Emmy Awards, Peabody Awards, and BAFTA.

Charming Zachary Levi portrays a Geek Squad guy who becomes an expert spy when all of the nation’s top espionage techniques and secrets are downloaded to his brain. This NBC spy drama combined humor and stories about top-secret missions with a sharp sense. Chuck is a favorite of this show. You might be one of them, and don’t know it.

J.K. J.K. Simmons stars as a sci-fi hero in this drama about a man who discovers there is an alternate universe. It’s just below ours, and people with power have been accessing its resources for years. This is what he discovers when he meets his alternate self, a trained operative. Imagine how different your life could have been. This smart TV was unfortunately canceled after just two seasons.

Showtime’s anti-hero was at its peak: Dexter Morgan. A serial killer with a code, Morgan is Showtime’s greatest anti-hero. Michael C. Hall plays Dexter, a Florida man who indulges in his need to kill and makes sure that those he kills are killed. Although there were some bumpy roads throughout the series, Hall was excellent, from the memorable premiere to the divisive finale. is now giving Hall a re-run.

This highly-acclaimed mini-series by Ben Stiller is about the 2015 escape from a New York correctional institution. Paul Dano and Benicio Del Toro are great as the convicts. But Patricia Arquette is the one who manipulates them into helping to facilitate their escape.

Do you know what happens when a show gets canceled and fans rally around with angry tweets and online petitions to save it? Sometimes, it works every once in a while! After three seasons on SyFy, this adaptation of James S. A. Corey’s books was canceled. Amazon bought it and a fourth season was released in December last year. This smart sci-fi series is a must-see. It owes a lot to Battlestar Galactica and Blade Runner as well as some of the finest Star Trek shows.

Gillian Anderson and Jamie Dornan play the roles of serial killer and detective in this Irish crime drama. This is all you need to know because its brilliance lies in the way it unfolds. The most original series ever produced by Amazon Prime, Phoebe Waller Bridge’s comedy was a great success in its second season. It is one of the best shows you can watch on any channel or service. PWB plays the title role, a woman who seeks stability in a turbulent life. However, that makes FLeabag seem like a generic comedy when it is anything but. You can see the difference for yourself.

Maya Rudolph is arguably her best work in this fantasy comedy opposite Fred Armisen, her SNL co-star. This show works best when you don’t know anything about it before you go in. But let’s just say it’s about the possibility that you can spend the rest of your life with the same person. Billy Bob Thornton is the headliner of an eccentric legal drama. It has featured a rotating cast of great guest stars, including William Hurt and Maria Bello, Mark Duplass as well as Lou Diamond Phillips, Dennis Quaid, and Beau Bridges. Although some plotlines aren’t very clear, it’s an entertaining vehicle for Thornton who has been consistently entertaining over three seasons.

It took Neil Gaiman’s fantasy novel, and Terry Pratchett nearly three decades to adapt it to the large or small screen. However, it was worth the wait to see Michael Sheen and David Tennant play the roles of the angelic Aziraphale, and the demonic Crowley. They are the reason you should watch this six-episode adaptation of the source material that is ambitiously handled with smart gusto.

Stephan James and Julia Roberts headline this original thriller drama about memory conspiracy and connection. Sam Esmail (Mr. Robot directs this adaptation from the popular podcast about a social worker, played by Roberts. The project she heads is designed to help soldiers adjust to civilian life. But there’s something a little suspicious. Bobby Cannavale, Shea Whigham, and Shea Monae give great supporting roles. Season two stars Janelle Monae and Hong Chau. Chris Cooper is also prominent.

While the Fox hit was a solid ensemble, is a network show that relied on its charismatic leader. Hugh Laurie as Dr. House. There are two types of people: those who believe Tatiana Maslany to be an amazing actress and those who haven’t seen OrphanBlack. You can’t help but be amazed at Maslany’s five seasons of this series. She gave multiple performances rather than one. It’s a classic sci-fi show that will continue to grow in popularity with new viewers, such as Amazon Prime.

Lauren Oliver wrote and created this YA series based on her 2014 novel. It’s a unique and effective coming-of-age story. A game called Panic is a series of intense games in which recent graduates take part to win $50k.

Imagine an anthology like The Twilight Zone which relies solely on short stories from the master of science fiction Philip K. Dick. The results are not always great, but there are some strong pieces, such as “The Commuter”, starring Timothy Spall. It was clever and funny and turned the mystery-of-the-week formula from the grim trend of shows like CSI into something fun again.

This Amazon original was created by Steven Soderbergh, David Gordon Green and lasted three seasons between 2015 and 2017. This is a straightforward comedy about a child growing up in New Jersey during the mid-’80s. But it’s much more intelligent than its description would lead you to believe. It is filmed mostly at Red Oaks Country Club and examines adolescence during the 1980s in a way that transcends nostalgia and feels real.

While some of these films are already on our movie list, the entire anthology is worthy of a place here as well. This is especially true since Amazon Prime is looking for Emmy recognition for its 5-film series. Steve McQueen’s achievement here, no matter what you call Small Ax is one of the best streaming options anywhere. It features five films that are geographically related but separate, with John Boyega and Letitia Wright as the stars.

Giovanni Ribisi is the star of this three-season Amazon original about a man who takes on the identity of his cellmate after being released. It turns out that he chose the wrong man to pretend to be. Fantastic actors such as Jane Adams, Peter Gerety, and Bryan Cranston make up the supporting cast. They co-created this dark comedy/thriller.

Do not start screaming at us. We aren’t dumb enough to choose a favorite, so we just bundle all of the Star Trek offers on Amazon into one entry. You could watch Star Trek episodes for hours on Amazon. You can find the original series, The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine. You can watch them all and then pick your favorite. We’re too scared.

Streaming services don’t allow for enough experimentation and should be allowed to take greater risks than they do. This animated drama is because it’s the best. Rotoscoped animation is used to tell the story of a woman who investigates her past and mental illness. The form also allows for visual creativity that fuels the emotions of the plot. It will take patience. It takes some time, but it eventually gets better.

Amazon Prime may not have as many standout miniseries as some other streaming platforms, but it does have one of the best. This dark comedy is about one of London’s most notorious political scandals. The BBC One coproduction tells the story of Jeremy Thorpe. Hugh Grant is undoubtedly his best actor and how he attempted to murder his lover. Ben Whishaw is a better actor than Grant, and Stephen Frears’ direction and Russell T. Davies’ writing are both worthy of an award.

The plotting of this British series can seem a bit sloppy and ridiculous. However, the amazing Kate Beckinsale keeps the show grounded and interesting. You can see Georgia Wells as Georgia Wells in this clip. She is a woman who watches a news report about a Congo riot and recognizes her husband in the footage. Her husband was killed in a plane accident three years ago. To find the truth, she travels to war-torn areas.

It’s easy to say: LOST with teenage girl” but this series is more than that. The writing is sharp and nuanced, and the performances are great from future stars.
